I've just listened to a great TED talk about sleep by Professor Matt Walker (a brain scientist who studies sleep) and it really got me thinking about my own sleep. As a shift worker, I do worry about the detrimental effects this has on my health. I certainly feel better on day shifts or during… Continue reading Are you getting enough sleep?
Next week is dying matters week and I've been inspired to write a blog! Every year in May, LOROS (my local Leicester based hospice) hosts Dying Matters Week, a national awareness-raising week to encourage people everywhere to talk openly about death, dying and bereavement. You can find more information and lots of resources through this link. I… Continue reading Dying Matters. What is your funeral song?

If you fail, celebrate.
Feel free to think I'm crazy. After all, I am writing this blog post night shift. I was thinking today about scientific and medical developments and wondering what will nursing and medicine look like in 50 years? Things change so quickly and things that we did 50 years ago would be frowned upon now and… Continue reading Post night shift thoughts on what nursing will look like in 50 years!
